Mexico City
The first day in Mexico City, I didn’t do much, I called my friend Antonio, whom I met in Quebec few years ago. He was just finished working at 9PM, but was really kind enough to come and meet me. I thought Antonio would be tired after a long day at work, I was also tired after a long day of traveling so we decided we’ll meet again another day and I’ll get to meet his girlfriend whom I also met in Quebec few years ago.

The second day I went out and started discovering this great city. I recall five or six years ago, I visited Northern part of Mexico, near the border with California, it’s what’s known as Baja California. I remember that time it looked very modest and some parts were disorganized, I kind got the impression the rest of Mexico would be quite similar to what I’ve seen before. To my great surprise, Mexico City is a very modern city with a very rich culture, I am very impressed. The city is very clean and has a lot of historical buildings that date back to 500 years or older. If you like a city like New York you will really be impressed by Mexico City. Very rich culture, and very vibrant.
Mexico City has 16 boroughs, so just the old city is a boroughs by itself, by comparison New York City has 5 boroughs. The traffic is pretty good for a city of that size, the transportation is excellent. There’s the metro but there are also buses and mini buses. I think the metro/subway is really taking a lot of the traffic off of the road. Even during rush hour or when there’s a festival, there’s a traffic but it’s not like other cities I visited that has bigger population.
