Other than visiting the Mayan ruins, some of the common tourists’ activities is visiting some of the caves around San Ignacio. One such activity was the cave tubing, in which you sit inside a tire’s tube and the tour guide would lead the group and you go through the river inside the cave.

It was fun to learn about Belize and its natural resources, for instance Belize was colonized by the British because it has a lot of Mahogany trees, which is considered as one of the most expensive wood that used in expensive furniture. We also got to see some trees that are known for this region such as the cashew, which I was told the shell can be poisonous so it has to be collected and roasted and processed correctly.
I enjoyed my stay in San Ignacio more than the other parts of Belize. I like to talk to the locals and learn and exchange with them. I was glad to meet John the son of the owner of the hostel who explained many things. Also the tour guide Daren, was very friendly and he took the time to explain many things that I found very interesting.
