I was reading about Rosario I learned it’s the city where Che Guevara – the revolutionary leader who was fighting for better human work conditions in many Latin American countries. He’s also known for helping Fidel Castro win in Cuba.
Lionel Messi, a famous and skillful football/soccer player was born in Rosario. So before I’ve even arrived here I was excited to come and visit because I thought it must be a very special place.
I arrived in Rosario early in the morning and once I found a place I head out in order to try and discover this beautiful city and learn about its history.
Just like Mendoza this is a very nice city, it’s considered the 3rd largest city in Argentina. I started to walk around and the first thing I asked about was the house of Che Guevara, I was a little disappointed when I was told that the house of his family where he was born still exist but it’s not a museum or anything and many people I asked didn’t even know where that was. Only one lady who has a store across from the building told me that some of Che Guevara’s family lived for a while in the house but nowadays she’s not sure anyone lived there. I saw on the map they have a statue of Che Guevara so I went to visit it and it’s located very far from the center and in a neighborhood that’s not as organized as the downtown and it’s away from where most tourists would be. Even the statue or the monument as they call it, is very short in stature. I asked about Lionel Messi and I was told the only thing is to go see his father’s restaurant, that’s the only thing he has in the city.

Rosario is very nice and I just love people express themselves, very animated Italian way. The influence of Italian is very strong, even the Spanish spoken in Argentina is different that the Spanish in other parts of Latin America, and it takes a while to understand what they say. But once I was able to distinguish it, it felt like when the Italians speak, you can say it’s Spanish spoken with an Italian accent or rhythm.
