As I mentioned in my last post that I visited Maleka, (Malacca or Melaka I’ve seen it written it in many different ways).
Maleka is located south of Malaysia on the west cost of the peninsula. It’s a very nice town of about 800 thousands inhabitants. Due to its strategic location, Maleka has a lot of history, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the Japanese and the British fought in order to keep this city under their control. The Arabs, the Chinese, and the Indians were also here as merchants.
The city has a historical district where you will find a lot of buildings that are 400 or 500 years old, very interesting place. It’s similar to Quebec City where you could be sitting in a restaurant or a hotel in a building that has a lot of history. You can also see very strong Chinese culture in china town which is located in the heart of the historical district. The city has more of a Mediterranean style than an eastern style and you could see that in the photos. As always, the Malaysian people are very friendly. I stayed in a guest house with Asri and his wife Lin Lin Tun, very nice and friendly couple. Their guest house located right on the river and 5 minutes walk to the historical district.
