I’ve been traveling in Malaysia for the past few days, I am not planning to stay for too long. Arrived in Kuala Lumpur (KL) late at night and decided to spend the night near the airport. There are 2 aiports in KL, one is for low cost carriers and it’s called LCCT and the other is the larger international KLI.

Once I got outside the airport I realized it’s a lot different than Taiwan. It’s not as clean and organized as Taipei. I took the bus to spend the night in a nearby motel, I was a bit disappointed because they were not organized and the hotel wasn’t very clean.
Next day I head south to Port Dickson which is a little town on the ocean. There’s very little thing to see but it’s a very nice little town for a family. Next I decided to continue south to Melaka. I heard a lot about it, it has a lot of history since it has a strategic location. It was occupied by the Portuguese, then the Dutch and the British. Through all these times, the people of Melaka had experienced very tough times because they didn’t want to be occupied by these civilizations. In Melaka and pretty much everywhere in Malaysia you see many races and nationalities, the Malayans make about 50% of the population, followed by the Chinese who came here as traders with about 23%. There are also the Indians who make about 7%. It’s really fascinating to see how they can all live together in harmony for many centuries. The majority of Malayans are Muslims and they are very open and peaceful towards the others. Any time, I said hello or waved for a Malayan they always smiled. I really felt they are so friendly. One lady in port Dickson who helped me with directions insisted to pay my fare for the bus.
