Volcano Eruption
About 3 weeks ago, a friend of mine came to visit me from London. I went to meet him in Quito. While I was in Quito, I heard in the news about a volcano that erupted in Baños, a city I visited back in September. So we thought why don’t we go to start our trip in Baños and continue to see the rest of Ecuador.
We headed to Baños, and we stayed for 3 nights. We got to see the volcano during the day, but at night after spending 6 hours on the mountain near the volcano we didn’t get to see much at night, it was cloudy. There were other tourists who were there as well hoping to see the lava at night. We were lucky because we went there with little preparation, and so we were not planning to stay that long, there was no transportation to get back at night. We met a family from Quito who were visiting Baños, they offered us to go down with them in their own car.

Although, we couldn’t see too much of the volcano at night, still it was a very good experience to get to see a natural phenomena like this during the day. We also got to do some outdoor activities and visited many water falls.
We then headed to the West coast of Ecuador, it was nice and warm and enjoyed swimming in the ocean. We didn’t visit the Galapagos islands, it costs a lot of money to fly there, almost a thousand dollars.

It was nice to visit these places, we visited many towns and cities down by the west coast, and it was a good opportunity for me to see this part of Ecuador which I didn’t get to see before. I also hope that my friend enjoyed his vacation, especially that it was a different experience for him to travel for 2 weeks backpacking and staying in hostels. I guess it gives life more meaning and gets us out of the routine that we come to get used to, living in the city and working in an office.
After this post, I will keep updating my blog but less frequently than before.
Cheers, life is too short, enjoy it.
