Yellow Mountain or in Chinese HuangShan, is 1580 meter with very steep cliffs, these cliffs were in part an inspiration for the cliffs you see in the movie Avatar.

There’s no train that goes to directly to Huangshan, so I took the bus arriving from HangZhou to arrive in a small town of 700 thousands, the town is called Tunxi. There isn’t much to do in Tunxi except for the old street that has a beautiful traditional Chinese character. Most of the tourists come to Tunxi as a step stone to get to HuangShan which’s about an hour and half by bus. It was a cloudy and rainy day and I met LiMing, a girl at the hostel, who offered me a plastic rain coat, she thought that I will need it since I had no winter clothes with me. But I told her I am from Canada this is only some drizzles. I thought it was very kind and generous gesture on her part. The one thing that I enjoyed throughout this travel is the amazing and kind people that I meet everyday.

Next day I got up at 6AM, had a breakfast and head up to the mountain. It was a nice trek, no climbing skills are required. Many tourists were there and I was impressed by some of the people I met along the way. Some were in their 70s who went all the way up while others took the cable car to reach near the summit and then continued walking till the top. It was an amazing experience and it took about 7 hours to go up and come down.

I took the last bus back to Hangshan, when I arrived in Hangshan some bus services were not available but still I was able find a bus to go close to where I was going to spend the night. Unfortunately, I took the bus in the wrong direction and one of the passengers who didn’t speak English called his friend and asked him to explain to me that I need to take what I should do. I thought that’s another amazing person I met. The most amazing thing throughout this trip is the people I meet, I find the beauty of humanity everywhere and that makes me happy to see the world is still a good place to be.
I was finally able to arrive at the hostel at 11:30PM but was so exhausted after walking and climbing for the whole day.
